How does the Stress Tracker work?

The Stress Tracker allows you to enter your stress level on a scale of 1 to 10 throughout a day.  It also allows you enter the information that is associated with each stress level: Sources of Stress, Stress Symptoms, Lifestyle Condition, Moods, and additional Notes.

 

How do I record my Stress Level?

It is easy.  Just tap on the “home” button on the bottom tool bar.  You will be taken to a page with a slide to record your stress level.  Move the slider to the position that corresponds to your current level of stress, with 1 as the Most Relaxed and 10 as the Most Stressed.  Tap on the “Add to Diary” button to save your level of stress.

You have the choice to add additional information to the tracker after you have selected a stress level: Sources of Stress, Stress Symptoms, Lifestyle Condition, Moods, and additional Notes.

 

How do I make entries for information that is related to my level of stress?

After you use the slider to save your stress level, you will be taken to a screen with additional categories: Sources of Stress, Stress Symptoms, Lifestyle Condition, and Moods.  You are also given the opportunity to enter information in a note section.

For each category, you can choose among a list of items by tapping on them.  You can choose one or multiple choices for each category.  For instance, for Sources of Stress, you can pick “Work Stress” and “Personal Stress”.  For moods, you can pick being “Tired” and “Frustrated.”  Tap on the “Save” button after you have made your selections.

 

Can I customize the information I enter?  How?

Yes.  For instance, you can add unlimited personalized items for Sources of Stress, Stress Symptoms, and Lifestyle Conditions.  Just scroll to the bottom of the screen for each category.  Tap on the “Add New” button.  You can type in the personalized item and click on the “Save” button.  Your new item will instantly show up on your list for the category.

You can also record your thoughts associated with the stress into the “Note” section.  Just tap on the “Note” button on the bottom.  Write down your thoughts as well as what you are doing to reduce the pressure.  This may become valuable information later, in order to help you gain insights on your specific challenges as well as the most effective methods in relieving the stress levels.

 

Am I required to enter additional information other than the level of stress?

No. You don’t have to enter any information in addition to your level of stress.  However, studies have shown that it is beneficial to enter as much information as possible so that you can look back in the future to find a pattern of your stress; as well as what causes your high level of stress, what symptoms you are experiencing, and what lifestyle conditions you are under.  Information you’ve jotted down in your note section will provide you clues on how you cope with different stressful situations and the most effective approach for you.

 

How can I review the information I have entered for a specific date?

You can review the information you have recorded for a specific day by tapping on the Diary button on the bottom navigation.  You then tap on the Date label on the Diary home screen.  This will bring you to a time selector, where you can select a date of your choice.  After that, a list of specific time points will be shown if you have indeed entered information for that date.  Tap on a specific time point to review all of the information you have entered. 

 

I made a mistake when entering information how can I edit or delete information?

Just choose the Diary section of application, then navigate to the date and time for your information. This will bring up a list of all categories of information you have entered.  Tap on the category of your interest, you will be taken to a screen which you can edit the information.  Tap on “Done” button to save all the changes you have made.

 

How does the Insights section work?

The Insights section displays specific bar charts that you can access by a quick tap, such as Hourly Stress Average and Daily Stress Average. You can also tap and view Top Sources of Stress, Stress Symptoms, and Top Lifestyle Conditions displayed by percentage.

– Top Sources of Stress

The sources of stress are ranked in descending order based on the frequency of entries for each source during the specified time period. The frequency of entries is calculated by dividing the total number of the entries for one source by the total number of entries for all sources.

– Top Stress Symptoms

The stress symptoms are ranked in descending order based on the frequency of entries for each symptom during the specified time period. The frequency of entries is calculated by dividing the total number of the entries for a stress symptom by the total number of entries for all stress symptoms.

– Top Lifestyle Conditions

The Lifestyle Conditions are ranked in descending order based on the frequency of entries for each condition during the specified time period. The frequency of entries is calculated by dividing the total number of the entries for one condition by the total number of entries for all conditions.

– Trends

The Trends section displays specific bar charts for your stress level for the time period you select. Review different time periods by tapping on daily, weekly, and monthly buttons on the top.

Each bar is coded by different color according to your level of stress. The average stress level is calculated for the specific time period and displayed on the last column of the chart.

Your Daily Trends: The bar chart displays your average stress level for each day during a specific week.

Your Weekly Trends: The bar chart displays your average stress level for each week during a specific month.

Your Monthly Trends: The bar chart displays your average stress level for each month during a specific year.

– Hourly Stress Average

The bar chart displays your average stress level for each hour in a day for the period of last 30, 60, 90 days. It intends to give you insights on how your stress level fluctuates throughout a day.

– Daily Stress Average

The bar chart displays your average stress level for each day in a week for the period of last 2, 4, 12 weeks. It intends to give you insights on how your stress level fluctuates throughout a week.

 

How to email results to my health care professional or myself?

Tap “More” on the bottom right hand corner of the app. Select “Settings”. Tap ‘Email Records”. Select the dates and time period for which you would like to email your stress diary. Tap “Email Results”. Type in the email address you would like to send it to and tap “Send”.

 

How to set reminders for myself?

Tap “More” on the bottom right hand corner of the app. Select “Settings”. Tap “Reminder”. Tap the “plus” sign in the top right-hand corner. Select the time(s) of day you would like to be reminded, which day(s) of the week you would like to be reminded, the sound you would like to play when the reminder is activated, and how often you would like to repeat the reminder.

 

How can I keep up with the latest updates for Stress Tracker?

Can I access my Stress Tracker account on the Web?

Yes. You can access your Stress Tracker on the Web.  Just go to www.AboveStress.com/apps.  Log in using your username/password.  You can not only use your Stress Tracker, but also join a larger community of people who have the same personal goals of stress management. In addition, you will have access to many stress management tools including expert blogs.

 

Can other members see my stress level and other information I entered?

No, other members cannot see your information.  Keep your information confidential by not sharing any of your account login information.

 

My app is stuck on the loading screen. Please help!

If your iPhone app is stuck on the loading screen, just turn your iPhone/iPod Touch completely off, then back on and this will fix the problem.

To turn your iPhone/iPod Touch completely off, hold down the top power button until the “Slide to power off” switch appears, then slide that red switch to the right.  Once you iPhone/iPod Touch is completely off, hold the top power button down again until Apple logo appears. When your phone has finished starting, open the app again and it should now load properly.

 

Are there any differences between iPhone and web versions of Stress Tracker?

Both applications work almost identically (other than a slight difference in look and feel).  The information you entered is automatically sent across both applications as long as you have Internet connections.

By using both iPhone application and the website it allows you to have the flexibility to access your account wherever you are and whenever you want it.

 

How often should I record my stress level and other information?

We recommend you record your stress level several times a day at least for the first couple of months.  This will help you gather enough information to identify useful patterns and develop effective personal stress management approaches.  In addition, studies have shown that self awareness of one’s stress level is in itself a powerful tool to manage stress.

 

How do I change my username, password, or e-mail address?

You can change this information by accessing your account from our website at www.AboveStress.com.  After you log in to the website using the same username/password, click on the “Edit Profile” button on the top left of the homepage.  Then click on “Edit Details” button and you will be able to change your name, username, password, and email address.  Click “Save” to save all changes.

 

I forgot my password.  How can I retrieve it?

Tap on “Sign in Now” button on the App screen.  Tap on “Forgot Password?” on the Login Screen.  Enter your correct e-mail address for the account and tap on the “Done” button.  For security reasons, we will only send you a random password generated by the system to your email address.  You can retrieve the new password from your email address and log into the website and change it to your preferred password.

 

How can I log out?
When you need to logout, just tap on the “More” button on the bottom tool bar.  Scroll to the bottom of the More screen, tap on “Log out”.
